Choral Scholars

Our Choral Scholar Program provides much needed professional experience to singers in the early stages of their careers. Scholars rehearse in advance with Artistic Director Daniel Shaw and then join with the Radio Choir staff singers for final rehearsals and the recordings or concerts. In total, Scholars attend roughly six rehearsals and two or three recordings sessions. This occurs over a period of about three weeks, meeting two to four times per week for about three hours. Rehearsals are typically held in Manhattan.

To be eligible, participants must be age 15-25 and live in the state of New York. Scholars sing and record selected works with our professional staff, and all Scholars are invited to return to sing with the choir as Scholar Alums.

In the upcoming months, we will be auditioning new Scholars for participation in one or more concerts or recordings in the 2008-2009 season. New Scholars will record selected music with the professional staff, and the Scholar alums will join for a portion these pieces.

Please direct inquiries to americanradiochoir@gmail.com. Sound clips and resumes welcome but not required.
